Fractal White Tiger December 2017 Update

I only added 158 stitches to my Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger (artwork by Ricky Barnard) this month.

Hoping for a page finish, I scheduled 7 days to spend on it this month. However, a relative needed transportation to several appointments and procedures and I was glad I could help.

If you look really closely, you might see the difference.

Next month, I will have more to share.

This is 1 of 3 full coverage projects I am working on right now. I hope to finish one of those in 2018 and then there will be a lot more progress on this beauty each month.

This photo shows progress made in 2017. 3 of 30 pages are done.

Thank you all for the encouragement and motivation through the year. I wish everyone a very happy, healthy new year filled with lots of stitching time!

Long lost stitcher

Hi everyone.  It's been such a long time since I've posted. And that's because it's been a long time since I've dedicated any time to my stitching projects.

You girls have made great progress this year. I am planning on bringing out my Four Seasons Birds and finally completing it in 2018. After that I want to pick up on my HAED and I'm sure there will be a few Smalls along the way.

I was wondering if this blog was going to continue next year. I would love to join you again.

Winnie the Pooh November Update

Hi friends, the year is almost over and I'm still trucking along on Pooh... well, trucking is not exactly the right word.  Delicately stepping, we shall say.
Previous:

In November I got about 1500 stitches on Pooh, finishing 2 more columns except for the over 1 section (Owl).
More green trees, basically.  It's the 100 hundred acre wood!  I'm looking forward to working on this in December and crunching some numbers to figure out how far along the project is (hint: less than 50%).

Fractal White Tiger November 2017 Update

1,279 stitches were added to Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger, a chart based on artwork by Ricky Barnard.

Next month, I will surpass the 24,000 stitches milestone.

This is how it looked last month.

I find the progress a bit difficult to see; however, the top 2 rows and 2 columns on the left side of the page are complete.

December is a busy month, but I would love to finish page 7 before the end of the year.

I wish you all happy stitching!

Winnie the Pooh II October Update

Hi friends!  I worked on Winnie the Pooh as part of a Stitch-a-thon weekend at the end of October.  My time was divided with sewing my son's Halloween costume, but I still managed about 1700 stitches.

Previous progress:
New progress:
I decided I needed another page finish for my Stitch from Stash budget so I went back to Page 1 and did the 1 x 1 section, swarm of bees I suppose.

First time using a magnifier!  I was able to see it fine with the help of the magnifier and extra light, but it was so tight on the fabric (28 count) that I hurt my left index finger a little, from pushing the needle through from the back.  Next time I may use a thimble.  Page 2 has a much larger 1 x 1 section (the owl)... you can see the outline of his wing on the right side near the balloon.
I love working on this piece, at my current pace (a few days per month).  That won't be enough to finish anytime soon, even next year, but I'm fine with that.

Renee's Fractal White Tiger October 2017 Update

After no progress last month, I was thrilled to add 972 stitches to my Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger this week.

It filled in a bit on the top of page 7.

This is how it looked in August.

I am looking forward to working in more of the face near the eye.

Wishing you all some happy stitching time.

the stranger is checking in lol

Hey everyone,
Just checking in to see how everyone has been. Please email me if you have had any problems ect.
Its been one interesting year for me. Almost a whole year without cross stitch. feels weird but I am happier with not setting deadlines for myself and I was consistently doing that with my stitching, I am still learning with my crochet but love being able to put it down and pick it u whenever to work on it.

Hope everything is well with all of you girls!

Winnie the Pooh II September progress

Hello friends!  My September rotation was fruitful since I was feeling a bit peaky at the time and spent pretty much an entire Saturday stitching (plus a few more days).  Previous progress:
I finished Column 11, stitched Columns 12 (over the page break), 13, and started on 14.  I'm over the midline of the design now.
You can see the beginning of Winnie the Pooh on the bottom right, with his blue balloon just above.  There is quite a lot of over 1 stitching charted for Pooh, most of the edges.  I think it looks a bit odd next to the over 2 stitches, but I'm sure it will be fine once I add the backstitch.  It was nice to finish with that orange/brown tree, which is full of confetti.  Next month it will be fun to finish the blue balloon and get into another big green tree.

Reptiles in August

I have gotten a little stitching on this piece this month. It isn't much, but a little is better than nothing.
Here is where I left it in July
Here is where I am today.

Winnie the Pooh II August progress

Hello, friends.  This month I got about 1500 stitches done.  I started a new diamond painting and that is a huge distraction.  Previous progress:
New progress:

I finished one column and stitched most of another.  There are another 4 or 5 colors to fill in the second column.  The orange/brown tree has a lot of confetti.  I'm looking forward to next month since I'll start page 2 and Winnie the Pooh is charted in the next column!

Renee's Fractal White Tiger August 2017 Update

This month, I finished page 6 of my Charting Creations "Fractal White Tiger" cross-stitch. This piece is based on artwork by Ricky Barnard.

1,818 stitches were added.

3 of 30 pages are done.

The project is 12.46% complete. (There are a few partial pages on the chart.)

Next, I will be filling in page 7.

I just love watching the picture emerge on this piece.

This is how it looked last month.

(The colors are more true in this photo.)

Wishing you all some stitching time this September.

Reptiles- A Few Stitches

I was trying  to stitch on this piece at least once a month for a week, but no such luck. But I think I did make some progress!

And I bought myself a needle minder to brighten up this project.

Renee's Fractal White Tiger July 2017 Update

There were 1,202 stitches added to my Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger cross-stitch this month. I love this piece, based on artwork by Ricky Barnard.

There are only 1,248 stitches remaining on page 6, so I hope to have a page finish to share in August.

This is how it looked last month. I filled in more above the eye and worked on some of the stripes to the far left.

I hope you all have a wonderful August and find some relaxing, yet productive, stitchy time!

Winnie the Pooh II July progress

Hello friends!  I managed about 1600 stitches on Winnie the Pooh this month.  Progress was quick because of large blocks of color in the sky.  It was fun to introduce some new colors (orange/gold) for the next tree.

Previously:
Now:

I had to pull some extra DMC since one of the new colors turned out to be a duplicate with a different symbol, for 869, which is used in the tree trunk on the left (and also some in the orange tree).  The Cyberstitchers Candamar - DMC conversion is wonky in places.  I checked the floss list from the kit; "medium dull brown" (869) doesn't sound like "medium dark gold".  The two colors from the kit floss were virtually identical and didn't fit either color description, to my eye.  Having a full DMC set comes in handy sometimes!  I decided DMC 420 would be a good sub for the medium dark gold.. it looked good next to the colors charted around it, yet still distinct, and also 420 isn't anywhere else in the conversion.
It's getting really hard to put this one away....

Renee's Fractal White Tiger June 2017 Update

The first 4 rows of page 6 are all filled in on my Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger cross-stitch. I do love this design by Ricky Barnard.

I only worked on it 3 days this month, but did manage over 600 stitches.

This is how it looked last month.

There was a fair amount of confetti to fill in above the eye. Next month I should hit some larger blocks of color, so I should have more visible progress. I hope so, because I am eager to work on his nose.

Wishing you all happy stitching!
Renee

Reptiles

I finally finished my first page! Only a year and a half to do, but at least it is one done!
Here is where I left off last month:
And here is where I am today:
I feel like I am making progress.

Winnie the Pooh II June progress

Hello friends!  It's summer time, and I tend to make more stitchy progress when the days are hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk and I'd rather hide inside with the air conditioning.

I worked on Winnie the Pooh this month as part of a weekend stitch-a-thon.

Previously:

Now

It was very productive and I managed about 2000 stitches.  I'm finally getting away from that big tree, hurrah!  You can see a bit of blue sky, clouds, and the pink on the bottom is a mountain range in the distance.

The next few columns have large blocks of solid color so that will be different.  Hopefully it will stitch up quickly.

Renee's Fractal White Tiger May 2017 Update

I do love working on Charting Creation's Fractal White Tiger, based on artwork by Ricky Barnard.

This month's progress is difficult to see. I have been filling in some of the confetti stitches that I skipped on my quest to add the eye.

651 stitches were added this month and the top two rows of page 6 are now complete.

I hit the 18,000 stitches milestone today.

This is how the piece looked last month.

There are some larger blocks of color coming up, so next month's progress should be more visible.

Reptiles-I am Obsessed

I don't want to put this down although I have other, more pressing projects. And, it really doesn't look like much. I need to set it up somewhere so I can stitch on it at least once a week.
Here is where I was in March:
And this is where I am today:
I am close to finishing the first page, but I have a bit more to do. Maybe by the end of June?

Winnie the Pooh II May Progress

Hello everyone! May was a crazy stitchy month.  With Stitch Maynia, I made 5 starts and worked on 10 WIPs over the first two weeks of May.  Still, Winnie the Pooh got some dedicated attention afterwards.  I've started using highlighters on the chart since more colors are being incorporated.  Previous progress:

Currently:

I'm happy with my progress.  I finished columns 3 & 4 (down to the midline), including the blended thread & blending filament, and got a good start on column 5.  The empty squares are charted for 1 x 1, which I will do later.  I think the detail will be a swarm of bees.  I'm loving this project and wish I had room in my rotation to dedicate more time to it, but it will be a focus piece someday.

Renee's Fractal White Tiger April 2017 Update

In March, I failed to add a single stitch to my Charting Creations Fractal White Tiger project. In April, I managed to add over 1,300 stitches and finally reached the 10% complete mark.

I am anxious to finish page 6 and see how it looks with more of the area around the eye filled in.

This is how it looked on my update at the end of February.

Some of the fur above the eye was filled in.

My schedule in May is looking a little crazier than normal. I do hope to have some progress to share, as I love working on this one.

Happy Stitching,
Renee

April 2017 - Happy Haunts

I left off Happy Haunts last month here: Haunts013
And, although I really tried to give it my all this past week, I didn't do so well: Haunts018
I really wanted to finish the row (simply because the slack on the left side is driving me insane and I want to wind it up a row), but I just can't manage it all in a week. Oh well, maybe next month!

Winnie the Pooh II April progress

Third time is the charm, friends!  So, I am using the chart from the kit, subbed DMC and antique white monoco for the floss and fabric, respectively.  I restarted and gave it 4 days effort in April.

I finished the first 2 columns down to the midpoint, and most of the third column.  What's undone in the third column are over 1 sections, and blended floss (with filament)... I didn't feel like getting into the fiddly stuff and I intend to stitch all the 2 over 2 before doing the 1 over 1 sections.  It's about 2,000 stitches.  I also got a tiny start on the 4th column.

I'm pleased with it now.  I won't finish this year but hopefully I can finish at least 25%.

April Birds

I'm really not enjoying this project any more, but I want to see it to the end.

For April I worked on the Fall section.

Spring Scarfs and new yarn

Micheals has a new yarn that is only 1.99 yahoo and you know what its a 4 weight its soft and comes in tons of colours. (Just wish they could keep them all stocked).
So Elk studios released a video and a new pattern using the yarn and i have started it. Actually I am half done it now. Its called the love me more scarf. Sometimes I find scarfs boring to crochet but this one called to me and I am enjoying it.

You can find the link to the pattern and she has a link to her video on her page too HERE.

And made it a bit farther to here: Haunts013
Hopefully next month will be better!

Reptiles-March

The above is where I left off in February and below is my stitching for this month. Pitiful.
But, this blog makes me stitch a little each month instead of letting it sit in the basement. I may finish this before I hit 100!
