Heaven and Earth Wizard of Oz update

Here is the latest on my Wizard of Oz. I had hoped to get more done his past weekend but with a four day weekend coming up - I more than plan to make up for it!  Here's to everyone having a wonderful Easter weekend!

Happy stitching!

'Unspoken' - March Update

I procrastinated this month because I made an error last month.  I thought I might work around it, but in the end I knew I would have to frog, and I hate picking out stitches on this tiny fabric!  But I finally did it and restitched, then got a little more done.

Last month:

This month:

A few more shades of gray and a little more across the top.  This whole page is just greyscale sunbeams, but the next pages will be fun :D  If I go across, I get tree branches and the start of the Elf's hair, if I go down, I get the small figure of the Queen (the artist has stories on her website to go with the pictures, so I know she is a Queen.  I just can't remember their names!  I need to look them up)

Linda's March Update

I am very pleased with the amount of stitching I got done on Cinderella's Castle this month.  I did about 700 stitches in 3 days.

Elaine's Dark Force non-update

Like others here, I made no progress on Dark Force this month.  Zero. Zip.  Nothing.  Nada.  I have some unanticipated time off in April (medical leave) so hopefully I can finish up my current rotation project and pick Dark Force back to get some done before the next update.

Cinderella's Castle

I have a little more progress to show. I've been distracted with starts (today's the last one, yay!), and now I'll be doing the A to Z Blogging Challenge in April. But slow progress is still progress.
Where I was at the end of February:
Where I am now:
I am very happy to say that I finished all of this shade of blue for one page. Now I get to work with a different shade of blue!
Thanks for reading and looking.
Happy Stitching :-)

March Update

Hey everyone I've got an update for paradise.  I just finished the first half of the 5th (I think) page.
I've still got a long way to go.  I switched from stitching in hand to using a scroll frame and I've gotten quite a  bit slower.  But that could also be because for some reason my floss keeps breaking.  And because I'm still learning.

For those of you who don't read my blog the phrase is "smell the sea and feel the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly". I'm doing it in 2 lines so that just shows you how much I still have left.

It's been great watching your projects grow!

March Update - Hummers

I have been soooo out of the loop! Too many things going on here to even have time to stitch let alone blog. :-( I promise to try despirately to be better with all of this in April. :-)

Needless to say I didn't even get to pick up Hummers all month. Sad. But here's where we left off last month...

Progress on Alicia, the strawberry pirate

March is almost gone and here is my Alicia... well there is no Alicia yet, just the background in 20 (or so) shades of pink...

2,800 stitches done 177,800 to go...

So long my friends,
Evalina

March Update for His Eye is on the Sparrow

Here is my progress on His Eye is on the Sparrow.  I completed page 1 and now working on page 2.  A little frogging here and there.  Not as much stitching as I had wished to do but that is the way it goes when you catch the bug that is going around.  Spent a couple days just laying on couch/bed.  Hope that is the last of winter illness.  Sun is shining more daily and warmer temps are helping.  the daffodils are starting along with lots more birds at the feeders.  Looking forward to warmer weather in Kansas!

I love reading everyones responses and updates.  Keep it up!

March.

March: What is your favourite (WIP or UFO) work in progress and post a picture.

I don´t have WIP.
I just have one UFO since January 2015: "Calendar Girls - April".
designed by Diane Williams, 2014.

Because my birthday is 9 April.

My big project:
slow...but not stopped!

Leonore's March Update

The month is almost over, so it's time for the monthly checkin here. I'm quite content that I managed to keep my pace with Dark Force and still finished one column (800 stitches) a week. Right now I'm only missing one more column to finish page 2, so I will do a full shot again some time in April I guess :) And if you look closely, you can see a bit of Darth Vaders helmet in that lower right corner!

Sarah's March Update

I didn't get much progress this month. No new stitches put in, but I did frog several more rows of the top. It is slow tedious work and I'm so scared that I'm going to put a hole in my fabric. Hopefully I will make better progress in April.

Serenity Harbor - March

During March I stitched a few birds and some tree tops! I'm pleased to say that I was able to finish the full section for this month, but I might fall behind soon :( My LNS is sending out my floss over the next few months, and unfortunately they're missing one of the next colors and so haven't sent the next batch yet. I haven't seen April's pattern yet, so I'm not sure how far I can go before I reach a floss I don't have yet...

Amy

Susan's March update

Despite all my good intentions, I missed the mid-month question again. But will answer it anyway...

My favorite WIP is Mirabilia's Santa's Magic.  I really enjoy Santa/St. Nicholas/Father Christmas pieces and this one is no exception. The things I like most are the non-traditional colors - purples, blues, and yellows and the fact that the fabric plays such an important role in the design. You can change the feel of the piece by changing the fabric.  I also think he would make an awesome wizard. Here's where he is right now:

Now on to my New Stitchy Start progress. I haven't had as much time to stitch on Shakespearean Fantasy as I would have liked, but I am happy with my progress.  This is definitely a slow and steady piece.

Here's where it was last month:

And here's where it is today:

Rachel's March Update

Hello everybody.

I'm afraid I've still got nothing to show this month. Fate is working against me and it's almost as if I doomed never to stitch this chart.

I'm very annoyed and upset at the moment because I put my faith in somebody to create a piece of hand-dyed fabric suitable for the background of Scarlet Macaw Preening and she failed to deliver on so many levels. Emails indicated that she would try to recreate the background colours but I ended up with a piece of fabric more of a salmony-orange colour with a tiny hint of purplish-grey. I am not impressed and extremely disappointed.

So..... I'm now going to dye my own piece of fabric. I've ordered a meter of cream Zweigart aida and five bottles of Rit dye liquid in cocoa brown, dark green, cherry red, tangerine and golden yellow. I'm going to spray or perhaps even daub theses onto the aida to create my own background. I've booked next weekend to do it so hopefully I'll be able to post the results soon after.

In the meantime I shall enjoy reading about your progress for March and hope you've had more success than me.

Love and hugs from a very unhappy
Rachel x

Evalina's favorite WIP

It's so hard to choose just one... In March I have three projects in rotation and love them all!

On Sunday's I'm stitching with Linda Santa's 12 Days of Christmas

I joined our local group of Saturday Stitching and I'm working on Quaker Christmas Sampler

and during the whole week on and off I'm working on Alicia, the strawberry pirate(the background is pretty boring and I can't wait to see my Alicia)

So long my friends,

Snowman Wisdom March update

I'm now at the half way mark of this project, but I have started ripping out the words and restitching them.  I have always done my lettering as long stitches, but after seeing the sample in my LNS I decided that I liked the way the words look backstitched instead of long stitched.  So far I have restitched  It's okay to be a little bit bottom heavy, .  I will continue working on the other lettering throughout the month of March.

The next 2 photos show my letters backstitched in the first sentence.  I think it looks better.

Leonore's favourite project

As most of you, I have quite a few projects 'on the go', and I adore every last one of them, so this decision wasn't easy. I love them all for different reasons: Dark Force for how awesome it is to seeing it slowly grow and being able to make out more and more of the picture, Things Unseen for the awesome overdyed threads involved, Cut Thru' Cottage for all the details and how backstitching is bringing it to life...but if I had to decide on only one, I guess I have to say it's the Mystery Band Sampler. A fellow blogger offered to do this mystery SAL for everyone interested, and I joined in on a hunch - couldn't be happier to do so! Each week, we get a new band to stitch, all different kinds of speciality stitches. We could choose between different color themes or rather gradients, and I chose to use the white->yellow one, on a light green fabric, which is one of my favourite color combinations.

These are the first nine bands of a total of twenty...I've fallen behind a bit and will try to catch up the three band I missed this week. It really is fun to experiment with the different stitches, and the colors are turning out lovely (they always look a bit pale on pictures, but much brighter in reality). I'm really learning a lot while stitching this, and might well use it as a reference guide for different kinds of stitches whenever I need them :)

Rachel's Favourite WIP

Hello all!

Gosh! My favourite WIP? I have so many to choose from if you include my January/February starts!

My favourite WIP is usually the one I am working on which, if actually started, would be Scarlet Macaw Preening. However, as I'm using him for this blog I'll choose something different.

It has to be OMG Tigger is Out. I don't know why I fell in love with this bedraggled cat but he instantly called to me. I haven't made much progress as I started him just before Christmas and since then have been tied up with January/February Challenge pieces. But he will be back out very very soon. He's not too confetti-heavy and has beautiful colours in the background, not just drab greys as would be expected.

It's interesting how so many of you have also chosen your favourite WIP to be different from the one you are stitching for this blog.

Love and hugs

WIP Spring Favorite

I am going with a seasonal WIP favorite of mine.  Glendon Place "Eggs Ala Round".  I have completed the cross stitch.  Next up is Kreinik braid and beading.  I have been working on it for 2 years.  For some reason "cough, cough" I haven't worked on it this year. Hope to pull it out this weekend and put a few more stitches in it. I am stitching it on Picture This Plus "Chrysalis 28 count Cashel. Picture does not do the color justice.  It is a very pretty light spring green.

Spring is almost here in Kansas.  Grass is showing signs of greening and the pussy willows are fuzzing.  Crocus have bloomed.  We had a stretch of 60-70 degree days that were wonderful.  Usually we are wet and cool as in 50 degrees with lots of wind.  A different March for us but welcomed after the winter.

Keep stitching!

Favorite WIP

Wow, this was a hard choice! I have a lot of WIPs to choose from, but I think right now my favorite(s) are the Pretty Little City charts from Satsuma Street on Etsy. I've started New York, Paris and Barcelona so far.
This is New York, the one I've been working on the longest (two weeks).
Happy Stitching!

My favorite WIP

My favorite WIP at the moment is my Swirling Peacock by Joan Elliott.

I think I like this piece so much because it uses Kreinik and beads.  I haven't started the beads yet but I have played with the Kreinik a bit and I love it.

Tama's March Theme

It took me a while to choose one of my many (many) WIPs as a favorite.  I finally got it down to Bent Creek's Snappers and this one, but this one gets worked on more so I guess it wins :D

QS Lovers by HAED - it was a SAL on the HAED Bulletin Board, and the artist is retired, so neither this small version nor the big version is available now.  The big version was all dress and the faces were just little blotches so I never bought it.

Here's how it will look:

And I've gotten this far:

I work on it every month during the International Hermit and Stitch Weekend.

Thanks for looking :D

Tama

Sarah's March Theme

I don't have very many WIPs and that makes it easy to choose a favorite LOL. My HAED "Letting Go" for this group is my fav. I have just a couple others going and one is in the UFO category as I have packed it away for later. I just started a new one and I'm looking forward to it. I think all the colors in it will be a nice change from the dark colors I'm working with on my HAED.

Amy's March WIP

In between the Serenity Harbor pattern releases, I'm working on "From Sea to Shining Sea" by Little House Needleworks. It's a set of six floss packs from Classic Colorworks, five panels and one pack for the border. So far I've finished one part of the pattern ("Mountains") and just started the second ("Midwest"). I'm stitching 1 over 2 with silk on PP Legacy.

This isn't a particularly large pattern, but since I'm splitting my time with Serenity Harbor I estimate I'll finish it late April.

Linda's March Theme

I would have to say that Disney Heroe's #16 is my favorite WIP.  I started it 1-21-14 and still don't have a page finish.  I am going to try and work on it more.

Disney Heroes N16. Counted Cross Stitch Pattern. PDF Files.

Kristy's March Theme Post

This is Stained Glass from Love Thy Threads which is sadly no longer in business..I started this in June of last year I believe and am doing one page a month..I think it is my favorite because once all the black is done I am going to be coloring it in with bright colors and also using beads.

~Kristy~

THEME FOR MARCH

Ok theme for March is up... What is your favourite WIP?? Post a picture

Mine is my black widow B&B by praiseworthy stitches but have not had time to work on it at all. Maybe that will be my goal for April.

February update

I ran over by 24 mins ahhh. I wanted to finish to confetti stitching and I did.
