I changed my new start from the one I had originally posted.  This is Full Service by Artecy.  That other one was just to big.

I'm looking forward to starting this tomorrow and for the SAL.

Ready. Set..........

Fabric came and I think it will look great with my piece.  I have all the thread needed.  I cut and stitched around the fabric this afternoon so it's all set to go.  I'm so excited.  Will be waiting and watching for part one of the chart!  Everyone else ready?

Snowman Wisdom by Sue Hillis

When I joined this SAL I didn't realize everyone else's BAP was going to be HAED.  My BAP will be Snowman Wisdom by Sue Hillis.  I will be stitching it twice if that counts, I won't feel offended please let me know if this is a big enough project.  I showed the chart to my friend Lisa yesterday, she loves snowmen and winter because she grew up in Alaska.  She used to cross stitch when she was younger, and appreciates the time and energy I put into each cross stitched gift I have given her.  She hinted that she would love it if I stitched her one at the same time as I stitch it for myself.  That is why I will be stitching it twice.

I will be stitching both pieces over 2 on 28ct Jobelan Babbling Brook.  I  will change a few colours to make them stand out on this blue background and to personalize the projects.  The chart says the stitch count is 118 stitches wide X 323 stitches high.

Today I will iron the fabric, then cut 2 pieces and attach them to the scroll frames.  I'm getting excited, I haven't stitched in about 2 weeks because I am a One-at-a-time stitcher and was waiting patiently to start Snowman Wisdom on January 1st.

Looking forward to seeing everyone else's progress throughout the year!

Dark Force, #2

On the very last day, I'm finally posting my start as well...I was afraid I would change my mind again as I have some very nice charts to choose from, but no I have ordered my fabric and floss, and there's no turning back: Just as Elaine, I'll be starting Tilton Craft's 'Dark Foce' in January.

I won this chart in a contest on deviantArt this summer (or rather, I won a free pattern and got to choose), and I really love it - I'm a big fan of Star Wars, and this design (as well as all artwork of Sanda) is stunning. There also is a partner piece, 'Master', starring Yoda and mostly whites/light greys, which I have as well. Sadly, both patterns are no longer sold on Tilton Craft's webpage, so I'm glad I got both of them before they were taken off.

The pattern calles for 1 over 1 on 25ct, but I had a few concerns with that:

1) the smallest I have stitched so far is 18ct,
2) I don't like 1 over 1 coverage on 25ct, at least not when so many dark colors and black are involved, but 2 over 1 on 25 ct is too bulky for my taste
3) this is Darth Vader, and making him any smaller by switching to 28ct is out of the question.

So my final decision fell on 22ct, 2 over 1. I hope I will be happy with that choice in the end! So, as I said, supplies are ordered; I won't be home before the 4th to start, but I hope that stuff will have arrived by then.

thats how long in mountain time as of 10:54 p.m. until Jan 1st are you ready!!!!

Can I Change My Mind?

For those of you who don't know, I'm very indecisive, especially when it comes to crafts. There are just too many crochet patterns and cross stitch charts out there! I'm the crazy one who always has multiple projects going at once.
I had originally posted here that I was going to use my first chart for the Super Duper Ultimate Crazy January February Challenge, the Spring Quilts, as my New Stitchy Start project. And I'm still going to be starting this one on Thursday. But am I allowed to change my mind at the last minute about my chart for this SAL?
I just bought this one from Hornswogglestore on Etsy. I have the fabric and threads already and am itching to start it. Does anyone mind the last minute change?

Happy Stitching!

Unspoken

Hello!  I'm really looking forward to this SAL!

I'll be stitching a HAED, 'Unspoken' by Adele Sessler.  I've been wanting to stitch one of these big, grey-shade patterns for a long time!  I have the fabric and most of the floss, enough to start with.

Dark Force

Greetings!

I'm excited to join this group.  I'm going to be starting Dark Force by Tilton Crafts.  I have the fabric, scroll bars, and most of the floss.  I enlarged the pattern today, and I'm all ready to start stitching on Jan 1.  Looking forward to seeing progress on all these great designs.

Elaine

question

I have decided to do a cut off of 20 stitchers (not including me). I would like it not to be too big so we can get to know one another and have a little stitching community. What do you think good idea

Tammy

Serenity Harbor

Hello everyone! I'm so glad to start a new year of stitching with you.

This year I'm going to work on Serenity Harbor from By the Bay, same as Linda Lee. The stitch count is 173 x 560. I'll be using 40 ct linen from Picture This Plus, so it will be about 8.5" x 28" when I'm finished. My fabric should be here today. I'm not convinced that I chose the right color (a gray-blue), but I have a few of the floss colors in my stash so I can compare. The rest of my floss is on order and won't be here for a few weeks, so I have time to find a different fabric before I get started.

Amy

Wizard of Oz

This is my Heaven and Earth piece that I have for 2015.  I have started the first page earlier this year but plan to make much more progress on it in the new year.  I can't wait to work on it and I am filling my time with small projects until January.

Happy Stitching!

Scarlet Macaw Preening

Hello all!

I'm so excited to be joining this SAL! Thank you!

This project was planned as a restart for 2015 so joining in this SAL will make me work on it at least once a month, even if it isn't for very long. It's probably my favourite chart of all time!

Here's Sherlock, as he's been called with his details:

Shinysun's Cross Stitching
Stitch Count 400 x 532 (260 x 470 without background)
To be stitched on 32ct Autumn Woodland Belfast Linen 2 over 2 (no background)

Those of you already familiar with my blog will know that I was not happy with my previous fabric and have concerns about the new one. But I'm seeing this project as a huge challenge and am looking forward to it very much, even if it is with fear and trepidation!

See you next year!

Rahenna's project :)

Hi all, thanks for letting me join in this SAL. :)

My new start for next year will be Chinese Garden Mandala by Chatelaine. I've had the kit for a while now, almost since the time the design first came out, and I don't want it to sit and wait any longer! Here's a kind of "stock photo" of the design:

I'll be stitching it on a pale blue hand-dyed fabric that looks a bit like clouds. It's something subtle so it won't detract from the design, I hope. :)

Can't wait for January 1 now!

A Happy New Year

On January first we'll all be starting a brand new big piece together.  That along with some ham and black eyed peas will make my day.  I'm so looking forward to getting to know ya'll.

The piece I'll be doing is from By The Bay and here's a picture of it below.  I"ll be doing it on 14 count hand dyed Aida and it is 173 W by 560 L, so when finished it will be 12.5 X 40".  I have all my threads and my fabric has been ordered.  This will actually take me the entire year, as only a portion

of the chart will be sent each month.  I'm ready to go though.

It will be fun to watch everyone's progress and get to know everyone as well.  Until next time, stay safe and warm and "feel the colors".

Susan's Pick

Back in November, I received an email from HAED saying that I had been gifted with:

Shakespearean Fantasy

Even though I had not planned a New Year's start and I have a WIP list full of BAPs, I decided that I had to start this one soon.  When I came across this SAL it was an easy decision to join.

I have all the floss, except black - I have a large floss stash, but even I don't have 41 skeins of DMC 310 - pulled and boxed. I plan to order a cone of black during the break between the end of Stitch from Stash 2014 and the beginning of Stitch from Stash 2015. I even found a piece of fabric in my stash that was large enough and have started gridding. I should be ready to start on the 1st.

I am looking forward to watching everyone's progress.

incentive...

I have decided that at the end of next year for incentive I will do a prize for posting. If you post every month and show your update then you will be entered into the draw at the end of the year. If you happen to complete your stitchy piece keep updating with a wip piece until the end of year. Are you girls game??

I am not deciding on a prize yet because it depends on funds but am thinking on the lines of a gift certificate or haed pattern of your choice but that is not in stone. I will let you know sooner to the date.

I don't know if you can but if you would like the comments from everyones posts sent to your email go to settings, mobile and email, and put a comma then your email address. If this won't work for you email me I'll add you.
** I guess this does not work for you so please just email me if you want to be added

HAPPY BIRTHDAY THURSDAY SARAH!!

Sarah's Slow Start

After a slow start (and lots of help from Tammy and Caitlin) I am now able to post my choice for the New Start 2015. I have chosen Letting Go by Zindy Nielson and it is my first HAED. I just checked my order status and it ships tomorrow!!!! I have asked for thread and fabric for my birthday (tomorrow) and Christmas so I should be all set to go January 1st.

Even nicer and nicer charts being added I am getting excited!!!!!

Hummingbirds

Hello all!

I have finally decided on a pattern for this SAL. When they said go big, I may have taken that a wee bit too literally. As of yesterday I am now the proud owner of my first ever HAED chart! You will all get the joy of watching me fumble through this one. It ought to provide for some entertainment along the way. :-)

This design is by Jody Bergsma and it's gorgeous!! I can't wait for it to be finished, but I may be getting a little ahead of myself.

Here she is! Floss will be purchased, with a prayer, by this weekend. The fabric may wait another week. I'm sincerely hoping that I can get all this thread at the stores I have near me.

Can't wait to see all the wonderful projects!!

Spring Quilts

I finally decided which chart to begin on January 1, 2015. Because I'm joining in the Super Duper Ultimate Crazy Challenge hosted by Linda of Stitchin With My Furbabies, I had 59 charts to choose from!
This is the Spring Quilts chart from the book Five Seasons of Quilts by Ursula Michael. I'll be starting the rest, too, but I'll post my progress on this one here.
Happy Stitching!

Paradise

Hi everyone I'm looking forward to seeing all of your projects!  For my project I'll be doing Paradise from Love Thy Thread.

It's 800x202 and has 100 colors.  It will have some slight modifications because I'm going to put a beachy life quote over it.  It's going to be a gift for my cousin's wedding in October because she loves the beach.  I'll be pretty much stitching this non-stop to get it done in time but I do have another large project I'll be starting right after.  I'll be starting this on the 1st and have already dyed the fabric.  I'll be doing this on 32ct linen dyed in a mottled blue/white.

Thanks for the add I can't wait to get started!

Family.

My big project for 2015 will be The Family Sampler by LHN.
I will start on January 1st 2015.
See you later!
