New start and January update

Tammy was nice enough to let me pick a different chart to start.

Cinderella's Castle by Hornswoggle Store

Here is my today's start.  This is about 250 stitches.

Linda

January 31 Stitchy Start

I'm still behind on my goal.  I should be done with page 4 but I'm only about halfway through page 3.  I didn't realize how much confetti was in page 3 ad it's taking longer than I anticipated.  Since a good portion of the piece will have text on it I should move faster hopefully because they are solid so here's hoping.  I'm estimating I'm about 10,500 stitches in so far.  Only 151,100 left to go lol depressing ;)

Sorry for the quality the lighting in here is pretty poor.  I promise my next post will be better.  Great progress by everyone so far I'll go back and comment on your posts in the next few days.  I'm trying to get ready for a Super Bowl party tomorrow.

5 more stitchers need to post by midnight

EVALINA, FATEMA,HEATHER,LINDA, LINDA LEE

post by midnight to qualify for the month of january

everyone else has been added as posted yahoo, this is going to be fun!!! I can't wait to put together a prize package at the end of the year!

January Update - Hummers

Hello all!

I've been LOVING seeing all of your progress this month! Figured it was about time I posted my own update. I was trying for a page finish this month, but you know what they say about the best laid plans... I'm still hoping to accomplish that goal by the end of the weekend.

So, this is where Hummers has progressed to this month.

A whole 6,799 stitches. 99% of which were confetti-packed! Still looks soooooo tiny when you look at the whole thing. Which is why I normally don't. Haha!

Caitlin

Last Day - Little old me again-Admin

All I can say is WOW!!!

All of you are stitching maniacs lol! I finished my moms belated birthday gift today and so now on to my dads for aprils, then I am going full force on the tiger after that.

I have to say too that we have a great group of stitchers, everyone is making comments and helping out!! Thats why I love to blog!! My phone been beeping my constantly about all the comments made. Keep it up girls thats what will keep us going until our projects are done.

THIS IS A REMINDER THIS IS THE LAST DAY TO POST YOUR PROGRESS. all posts after midnight today don't count.

By the way because it was asked, you have one last chance to change your project for the SAL but you must change, stitch and post before midnight tonight to still count!!! After today you will not be able to change your projects k.

Happy that you girls are apart of the SAL I am so lucky!!
Tammy

Better late than never..........

Well, I know it's later than I should be with this but here is the progress that has been done for now. I know that it might not seem like too much but I am trying to get some done as often as I can.

Happy stitching!
Trina

Scarlet Macaw Preening January Update

Hello all!

Here's Sherlock after a massive 2.5 hours of stitching during January.

As you can see, not much progress has been made on this project and I apologise for not stitching more. There are two reasons for this:

1) My attention has been focused on the 31 DUCJC pieces and
2) I absolutely hate the linen fabric and just can't get on with it, so much so that it gives me no pleasure to stitch on and has brought me to tears :(

Those that follow me will know that this is my second attempt at this project, having been unsatisfied with the first lot of fabric. Well, it looks as though it might well have to be third time lucky as I go in search of another fabric which MUST be aida!

I'm sorry my post isn't a very happy one. At least others doing this SAL have had more success and I have enjoyed watching them grow!

Love and hugs

January's Serenity Harbor

I had a late start this month because I was waiting for floss, but I managed to finish the first part of the Serenity Harbor pattern late last night. The designer will release the next part in a few days, so I have time to stop and breathe before I move on. The first few sections are a little sparse, but later in the year it will be much more dense. The pattern has pink roses, but my LNS showed me some dark red silks, and there was no going back.

I'm stitching 1 over 2 with silk on 36 count Mello linen from Picture This Plus. I knew conceptually how big this piece was, but I didn't really get it until I opened the fabric all the way and started stitching.

I don't use a frame or hoop, so it's a little wrinkled...

January Pink Lightning

I started Pink Lightning on the 1st of January and this is my progress so far..I think I have about 15 lines left till I reach the top of this page..I know it is very difficult to see but there are 2 colors in here..939 and 310..can't wait to soon get to color.

January

January finished! This month I didn't have much time to stitch. Temperature in January in my city was about 38º C. The only thing to do was swim! LOL

Cinderella's Castle

I have a little progress to share. I'm still working on the darker blue of the sky in the upper corner but should be adding the lighter blue in a few rows. I've been focused on my starts for the Super Duper Ultimate Crazy Challenge so haven't given this much priority.
This is where I was on January 1:
And here I am on January 30:
Thanks for looking.
Happy Stitching!

His Eye is on the Sparrow-Dede's project

I haven't spent a great deal of time stitching.  Hopefully in February I will do better.  I have stitched part of the edging and a few of the animals.  It is a fun stitch.  Blogging is another story!  I couldn't remember how I posted BUT finally found the button!  Duh!  Now to figure out labeling...hmmm.

Leonore's January Update

So after a late start on the 13th I gained some ground by focusing on my project and not stitching much else. My main goal for Dark Force was to stitch one block (of 10x10 stitches) a day, which I reached (including catching up the first 12 days of the year) on the 25th. But I wasn't content, because I have another goal which would be so very nice to achieve and that is one column a week. Doesn't sound like much of a difference, considering that wach column is only 8 blocks, but since we are currently in week 5 it does mean I have to catch up one more row. I *might* manage to do just that over the weekend, which is really exciting! So far, I'm at four columns -> 4*8 = 32 blocks -> 3200 stitches, and I really love what I see so far.

Rahenna's update - January

Well, not too much to show unfortunately, I got a bit worn out on all the confetti stitching in the border and put this aside for an older WIP after about a week. :)

Maybe next month will be better. :)

tiger dreams

Well I am like some of you with not much to show. I have worked on it only two times. Trying still to get my moms piece done and garnet fairy. Hopefully soon!! Then I can progress on this one more and my dads present too

January Progress - Unspoken

Here is my progress, such as it is!

Still pretty much invisible, almost 1,000 stitches.  Hopefully, he will come up in my rotation more often in February.

Snowman Wisdom January update

I worked a lot on my project the first few weeks, but haven't had time lately because I'm working on another project that has a deadline in February.  Here is my progress photo for this month.

Sarah's January Update

I'm still undecided what to do about my stitches so I thought I'd just post what I have and think about it over the next few days.
This is the first few stitches going in just after midnight on January 1st.

Here she is today, after 40 hours of stitching. Approximately 3400 stitches. The block of 400 on the right is obviously the ones I'm experimenting with LOL.

And just because I like looking at the completed chart.....

Sarah

What a month

When I started Shakespearean Fantasy it went so well that I was SURE that I would have amazing progress to show for this month's check-in. You know that saying about plans? Yeah, that happened. I have done so little stitching this month that you would think I am in a major slump but life just completely got in the way of anything other than the fire that needed to be put out at the time. I do think that things will settle down enough in the coming days for me to have a proper stitch-in this weekend.

Here is what I was able to get done on Shakespearean Fantasy in the one session I had with it this month:

This is my first HAED (sort of, I started two on the same day) and I am still figuring out what works best for me. Right now I have a hybrid cross-country/parking/block thing going on. I started in the upper left corner and realized that there were a half dozen or so dark navy blue stitches on the otherwise solid black first page. Knowing me, I would have forgot them in the dulled senses that come with doing large blocks of one color so I did them first and then noticed that page two had a few more as did the first bit of page three. So I did them and then some black and then those greens you see on the bobbin, then some more black. I decided that I would do a length of color, then a length of black so that I wouldn't burn out on all that black (the entire piece uses 41 skeins).

New Stitchy Start January Update

Well, due to eye fogginess, not much has been achieved on Holy Night. It is a struggle to see the holes on this fabric and so I have been stitching "smalls" and even picked up knitting again. This is sad progress for such a beautiful piece!!

Posting between 28th-31st Counted for end prize only

Ready to post? 2 days away, this is just a reminder.

Some of you have posted before the date I did not make too many rules on this blog because I hate those type of SALs but I am sticking to only counting those posts made between 28th and the 31st of the month.
If you are labeling (its on the right side when you are writing your entry) please tag it with Jan 28th too.

Part One of My Piece

This is my piece, and I've finished part one.  Part two comes in early February.  I changed the color of the roses to darker shades.  The piece is from By The Bay Needle Works and is called "Serenity Harbor".  Can't wait for part two to arrive!

I've really enjoyed seeing everyone else's work here also.  You ladies do inspire me for sure.

jan 28th / A NEW STITCHY START 2015

Hi Guys. Finally going to try starting on NEW STITCHY START 2015!! I have my Ott Light set up and new glasses and white lap sheet! I hope to outsmart the "Eye Cloud" If not, I may change my project for the year to a more "cloudy Eye" fabric count and color and pattern!!!!

This is "O Holy Night Nativity" by Stoney Creek. The fabric is 32ct Jobelin and the threads are DMC. It was an open kit that I acquired somewhere for pennies and seems to be completely intact.

A Small Amount of Sherlock

Hello fellow stitchy starters!

I thought it was about time I posted a progress picture of Scarlet Macaw Preening. Unfortunately, there's not a lot to see yet as I am ashamedly concentrating my stitching efforts on my DUCJC pieces at the moment.

I'm not liking the linen fabric, nor the fact that the weave and therefore the stitching isn't straight. But it's early days and I'm still experimenting with the best way to stitch on linen.

I do intend to stitch this piece for 30 minutes per day so have a bit of catching up to do. Maybe there'll be more progress by the end of the month.

Love and hugs

Greetings!

I am not a blogger but am an avid reader of blogs.  Not sure what I am doing but going to give this a try!  I picked His Eye Is On The Sparrow for my BIG project for the year. I am using the called for floss but am stitching it on Weeks Dye Works 32 ct Parchment.

I started on January 1st with a couple hours of stitching.  Since then it has been a hit and miss.  I finished up a couple projects that I wanted to get finished to take to framer with my next trip to the big city.  I am missing a thread color.  It is somewhere but have not come across it!  Going on a hunt this afternoon to find it.  Here is my progress as of last night (January 13th).
Looking forward to learning more about posting!  Please pardon any mistakes I have made.  It is a big learning curve for me!

My best kitty

Not much news. Just a little more stitching on the border of my towel that I'm learning to live with being slightly off-center.

We did not have a winter storm in Monroe, Louisiana this weekend. We just had cold rain. Today is 36 with a wind chill of 23 and the wind seems to find all the ways into my house!!  Brr!

Add caption
This is my bestest friend and stitching companion Snicklefritz. He was a Cat Haven rescue and adores my 9 Grands. He's always cold and is the best snuggler in the universe. I am truely blessed that he picked me out (story for another time) and he healed the achy empty heart after I had to put my beloved 14 year companion to sleep. Coco was a Miniature Italian Grayhound that was also a rescue.

Happy stitching and keep warm!!

A late start...

Though I'm still missing half of the floss (hurry up, post guys!), I really can't wait any longer, my fingers are itching...so, after preparing my fabric yesterday, today will be the day I'm starting Dark Force!

I'll be trying I few new (to me) things with this...gridding (though I decided to grid only one page at a time, as I stitch them) and my own interpretation of parking. It looks like I have most of the colors needed for the corner I want to start in; so here's hoping I'll get in a couple hundred of stitches before the weekend - I have some catching up to do after all!

Whew!

New Years was nuts!  I had to work until 2:30 am New Years Eve and then I had to work on New Years Day.  I started on the first but wanted to wait until I had some progress to show and had good light.  This is about 3,300 stitches in.

I'm working it in columns of 20.  The grid is in 25 and it's 32 ct linen.  I messed up a bit on the grid since it's my first time using pen whereas before I used thread so I was working between the lines but it's okay since I really just needed to know where to start.  This is the last column of the page now and I'm aiming for a page a week.  This is the largest page but only by a single column or two.  There are 3 rows of 14 pages, the last row are all half pages.  Love watching everyone's progress!

Off to the races

Hi Everyone, it looks like everyone has gotton off to a good start to their projects. I was hoping everyone would have started on the 1st January but I guess that did not happen. I will be looking for everyone's posts nearing the end of the month between 28-31st count towards end prize. But feel free to post as often as you like!!

Helpful hints for new bloggers - if you put a label on your posts- for example: Tiger Dreams, Tammy (right sidebar when writing) then followers will see all your posts if they click on it in the cloud on the bottom right of the blog.

New Fabric for Serenity Harbor

I got some new fabric for Serenity Harbor today. My last piece was a little too blue and clashed with some of the green in the pattern, but I think this one will work out much better. This is Edinburgh in Mello from Picture This Plus. I was hoping for 40 ct, but I was going to have to wait a few weeks to special order it. This is 36 ct, which only gives me 2 inches on the top and bottom borders. It will be enough, though it's a little close for comfort.

I'm still waiting for the rest of my floss. I'm getting some silks, and the shop expects to ship them mid-January. I had some of the colors in cotton so I could do a floss toss and check the color, but I need the silk before I can get started.

Evalina's update

Yesterday I started my Alicia, the strawberry pirate. I did just about 300 stitches - there is 180300 more to go! At this speed it will take me close to two years to finish...

Dark Force start

After 1 hour of stitching, 124 stitches done, 137,576 to go!  Should be able to make more progress this weekend.  Not much to go on, but so far, I'm happy with the coverage, even of the very dark.

Elaine

Hummers Begins!

Yay! I finally started!

I decided on 25-count stitching 2 over 1. This is not cross stitching. This is like sewing a thick tapestry. Wow. I didn't realize how thick the piece would get. I thought about stitching 1 over 1, but I didn't like the coverage as much.

Here's the first stitch going in... the first 10x10 square completed... and the 832 that followed! Almost 1,000 stitches down! This may take a lot longer than I expected, but I'm loving it!

Woohoo! I hope you're all enjoying your pieces as well!!

I didn't get too far on the 1st and none today, but at least he is started!

Linda's Jan. 1 Start

I'm still very unorganized but did manage my day 1 start.  This fabric is so stiff it's going to take me a hundred years to finish it.

Evalina's New Start

Hello and happy New Year!

For this SAL I chose Strawberry Pirate Alicia by HAED. Isn't she a cutie?

Finally I finished organizing the floss

and today I will start stitching it.

Evalina

Love working on this

I almost  have the top row of page one complete! Yesterday and today have been full of stitches. I love the purples that are mixed in with the gray. It's been hard to put this down the past couple of days. Good thing I have Saturday and Sunday off too LOL.

Sarah

Fatema's 2015 start.

Happy new year friends.
Sorry I am really late. I have been really busy with life, but I am getting in lots of stitching done.

For this SAL I chose HAED QS Hearth Of Gold. It is a SAL on the Yuku forum.

I am doing this using DMC Floss

At 12.15 am I put the first four stitches in my magic guide 18ct.

At end of day this is how much I did as I only stitched for 30 mins in the pm.

Thats it from me. Till I stitch on this again in a few days when I get my chart printed. I had to stitch using my laptop pdf.
