Love with a Capital L April-May progress

Hi everyone.  It's been awhile!  The frog visited in April. The thread I bought for the big capital L, Silk n' Colors "Turkey Feathers" did not work out.

You can see the faint remains of the frogged stitches.  I was so upset after frogging, I had to set it aside.  But I did take it out a week later and stitched a new page.  Then, in May, I worked on it again.  I also spent some time charting a new section for the bottom, with my wedding details.
Honestly I'm at my wit's end with that capital L.  I want a variegated thread with the colors in the piece (dark red, orange, gold).  If you have any suggestions, please let me know.  Or I could just stitch it it with the crimson.

  1. Are you using silks or cottons? 'Cause there's a couple DMC variegated that might work? 51, 4122 or 4124. But I think you're using silks? I'm so bad at remembering!

  2. Some possible silks: Soie et #25/3-Ply Silk Floss #510
Tiara #50 Variegated Filament Silk Thread. #502
Tiara #50 Variegated Filament Silk Thread. #601
    They are all red/orange blends.

  6. It looks brilliant... and you have made some great progress!
I hope you find a thread that sets it off for the large L. Would a blend of the existing threads works? Or maybe a blend with a gold metallic thread?
    Hugs xx

  7. Great progress! I'm sorry the L didn't work out...maybe you could ask one of the awesome dyers out there, like Michelle Easters from Joydri Designs, to custom dye some threads for you, if you provide her with the colour codes of the colours you want?

  9. Such a lovely piece! Great progress in spite of the frog visit. From time to time I have to put a piece in time out so it can pout for a while. Eventually it gets corrected and we move forward. LOL
