July - Serenity Harbor Update

Still filling in the water on Serenity Harbor! I'm now about two months behind (this is still section 5). But hey, slow progress is still progress. Someday I'll get there!

June - Not Much Progress

So, Serenity Harbor looks quite similar to the last time I posted. I think I have maybe five more stitches done.
I'm about a month and a half behind now. I still need to fill in the rest of the water in that section, and there's an entire section beneath it I haven't even started.

I wasn't able to get very far this month because of another project. My brother's dog passed away in an accident a few weeks ago, so I was focused on stitching this for him.

May Serenity Harbor

Well, after five months I finally fell behind.

I still need to fill in most of the water, but all the land/trees/etc. are finished. Around the middle of the month, I took some time off to stitch a few smalls. I don't really expect to catch up again, since the sampler is so dense all the way down, but that's okay. It's about the journey, right?

April - Serenity Harbor

Here's Serenity Harbor after four months:

I'm fighting a migraine right now, but I'll add some more info in the comments when it clears up.

Serenity Harbor - March

During March I stitched a few birds and some tree tops! I'm pleased to say that I was able to finish the full section for this month, but I might fall behind soon :( My LNS is sending out my floss over the next few months, and unfortunately they're missing one of the next colors and so haven't sent the next batch yet. I haven't seen April's pattern yet, so I'm not sure how far I can go before I reach a floss I don't have yet...

Serenity Harbor - February

I finished the second section of Serenity Harbor with plenty of time to spare!

The clouds disappear in some of the pictures, but they're visible in person. It looks like March will have a little more stitching (some seagulls and the top of a tree), and starting around May it will be pretty much solid stitching. These first few months are easy; hopefully I'll be able to keep up when the pattern gets busier!

Since I only get a little bit of the pattern at a time, I worked on a few other WIPs this month. I finished a pin cushion from Shepherd's Bush called "Goodness and Grace" and the bonus pattern from SamSarah's "Something Wicked." A little out of season perhaps, but I'm ahead of the game for next fall ;)

I had a lot of fun this month looking at all the previews for the Nashville market. I tried really hard not to go overboard (my stash is too big as it is!), but all the new pictures on Facebook this morning are really testing my resolve.

January's Serenity Harbor

I had a late start this month because I was waiting for floss, but I managed to finish the first part of the Serenity Harbor pattern late last night. The designer will release the next part in a few days, so I have time to stop and breathe before I move on. The first few sections are a little sparse, but later in the year it will be much more dense. The pattern has pink roses, but my LNS showed me some dark red silks, and there was no going back.

I'm stitching 1 over 2 with silk on 36 count Mello linen from Picture This Plus. I knew conceptually how big this piece was, but I didn't really get it until I opened the fabric all the way and started stitching.

I don't use a frame or hoop, so it's a little wrinkled...

New Fabric for Serenity Harbor

I got some new fabric for Serenity Harbor today. My last piece was a little too blue and clashed with some of the green in the pattern, but I think this one will work out much better. This is Edinburgh in Mello from Picture This Plus. I was hoping for 40 ct, but I was going to have to wait a few weeks to special order it. This is 36 ct, which only gives me 2 inches on the top and bottom borders. It will be enough, though it's a little close for comfort.

I'm still waiting for the rest of my floss. I'm getting some silks, and the shop expects to ship them mid-January. I had some of the colors in cotton so I could do a floss toss and check the color, but I need the silk before I can get started.
