This month I managed to add over 1500 stitches to my Charting Creations cross-stitch "Fractal White Tiger" featuring artwork by Ricky Barnard.
Page 1 is almost 30% complete. I cannot wait to see how it looks for my February update!
Happy Stitching,

January 2016 - Christmas Contest Suteki
I started the year with only one day's worth of work on Suteki:
I settled into a weekend rotation of her and I managed progress every weekend but the last of the month. She's been a pain, but she's moving along well, especially when I realized that the first row is probably going to be the absolute worst confetti-wise and it should get better (eventually). I finished the first page and most of the second, but they aren't full pages, so they don't really count:
She may not get quite as much attention in February since I have a lay-about project to finish up and a month before I go to Disney World, but I intend on at least finishing the second page.

January 2016 Update on His Eye is on the Sparrow
Happy stitching in the New Year--wow--January is almost over already!
Posting an up date on my piece. I managed to finish almost 2 pages since the end of November. Happy about that.
I am working on a small biscornu to celebrate Kansas 155th birthday as of Jan.29. I am working on edging and will stitch year on back. Love these biscornus.
I am also doing a SAL with Randje per Week. I stitched it in 2014--it was almost 6 feet long-all border patterns. Sat out the borders for 2015. This year it is a sampler of alphabets. Free pattern that are posted weekly. It is an international SAL. Originating in the Netherlands. I am inspired by all the wonderful stitchers and how they have added their person touches. If you are interested just google it. They published a book for each of the past SAL.
Looking forward to February! Short month and then soon SPRING! We are on the edge of a big snow storm the first of the week and am hoping we don't get drifts of snow. One good thing about snow this time of year--it doesn't last as long as in January! More sunshine takes care of that!
Keep stitching! Dede

Keiley's Introduction - Christmas Contest Suteki
Hiya everyone! My good friend Heather is a member and thought this would be a great group for me.
As far as the personal stuff goes...I'm a mid 40's divorcee with a 5-year old Rescue Shih-Tzu named Bam and we live in Northeast Arkansas. I'm also an Asperger-diagnosed adult with OCD and Social Anxiety Disorder, which makes for a complicated life, but it's great for an overactive stitching mojo. I pretty much spend every non-working/waking hour stitching (unless it's close to Disney World time, and then I'm completely absorbed in Disney planning).
I started the 2014 HAED Christmas Contest Suteki project on January 1, 2016 as a gift for my sister, along with two other new HAED starts. I'm stitching it on my preferred fabric, 28ct Monaco, 1x1 full stitches. I've only put one day's worth of work on it so far, but here is where I made it to:
I've got several other WIPs in progress, mostly HAED's, all of which are a lot easier than this one, even though most of them are twice/three-times as large. This one may be small, but the amount of dithering and confetti are a lot more than I am comfortable with, hence the needed motivation of a SAL group, especially since I want to finish it by the end of the year (if not sooner).
I'm looking forward to getting to see everyone's progress throughout 2016 and thanks for including me!

Stephanie's Introduction: Love with a Capital L
Hi, my name is Stephanie and thank you for letting me join! A SAL is so helpful for making progress with huge projects.
I'm a married thirtysomething, living in the Washington, DC metro area, with one son, almost 2 years old. He keeps me busy, and I mainly stitch in the evening after baby bedtime. Other hobbies include sewing, quilting, knitting, and reading, but cross stitch is my primary creative outlet these days.
In mid January I will start Love with a Capital L by Papillion Creations. Here is my floss toss: Gloriana silk in crimson & pumpkin, on 25 count vintage smoky white lugana. This pattern has been in my stash for a long time. The plan is to add some personalization to the bottom as a wedding sampler. It's a large project (260 x 434 st), which I found a bit daunting. I will stitch 1 over 1, full cross. But we've been married 10 years, so it's about time. I look forward to sharing my progress here and seeing everyone's projects come along.

Renee's Introduction - Fractal White Tiger
Thank you for allowing me to join you all in 2016. I stumbled upon this blog last year and have truly enjoyed following everyone's progress.
I am married, live in Oregon and am the mother of two teenage boys. Cross-stitch and crazy quilting are my passions.
On January 1st, I began working on Fractal White Tiger from Charting Creations. I am not sure how many white tiger charts I had my eldest son look at last year, hoping he might want me to stitch one for him. He found a couple he kind of liked, but I decided cross-stitch just was not his thing. On one of his weekend visits home from college, I showed him this chart based on artwork by Ricky Barnard. His eyes lit up and and he asked me to stitch it for him. (He may have told me to finish one of my other projects first, but that could take a few years...)
In 2016, I will be working on creating a crazy quilt block a month as part of the Crazy Quilt Journal Project (CQJP) 2016. And I will be rotating between Charting Creations' Fractal White Tiger (Ricky Barnard), HAED's Twilight Duel (Ruth Thompson), and HAED's QS Red Hearts (Ching-Chou Kuik). I look forward to sharing my progress on Fractal White Tiger here!
Fractal White Tiger will be my first attempt at using the continental tent stitch. I really like using 2 strands of floss (so I can begin with the loop method instead of a knot.) And, I like using 28-count fabric. I learned the hard way that 2 strands is just too much for stitching over 1 square on 28-count with a full cross-stitch, so I am hoping this will be a happy compromise.
I look forward to getting to know you all more this year and seeing your fantastic pieces come together.
Renee
